Glory Statements

Today, I read through a sampling of New Testament doxologies (these are from Paul). I love their pattern: 1. A truth statement about God 2. A praise (or doxa, which means ‘glory’) 3. A temporal statement of eternity 4. AMEN (“it is indeed true”). These statements praise the God I serve.

To the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. (Rom. 16:27)

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,  who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,  to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Gal. 1:3-5)

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Eph. 3:20-21)

To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Phil 4:20)

To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (1 Tim. 17)
